How to Choose the Perfect Lincolnshire Wedding Venue: A Photographer’s Guide

Congratulations on your engagement! You must be overwhelmed now by all the things needed to plan a wedding day. The dress, the colour palette, the florals… But before everything else, the most important thing is to choose and book a wedding venue you truly love. As a wedding photographer based in Lincoln, I love exploring every Lincolnshire wedding venue. To help you during this exciting wedding planning time, I have put together the main styles of wedding venues available across our beautiful county. I am also including some tips on what to look for when choosing your wedding venue.

3 Tips when Choosing a Venue for Beautiful Wedding Photos

These tips will be from my point of view as a photographer. Everyone loves beautiful wedding photos, and choosing your wedding venue is a big part of it. Here are my top tips on how to choose your Lincolnshire wedding venue.

 1. Look for big windows, high and bright ceilings

Look for ceremony, wedding breakfast rooms and getting ready spaces with large windows. Large windows allow natural lighting to fill a room, which makes photos light and airy. Not less important is wall colour too. Light coloured wall provides that beautiful light across a room. If a room has dark wood panelling, red bricks or small windows, it can still look lovely, but your photographer might want to use flash to add that extra light. The photos won’t be as light and airy, but darker and moodier.

2. Think of rainy weather and Plan B

We all know that the British weather can be unpredictable. If you are planning an outdoor ceremony and have found a venue you truly love, ask the coordinator about Plan B. A venue that offers outdoor space should also have indoor space. Think also of couple and family photos. Look for spaces that are large enough for these photos – indoor lounges and staircases and your couple and family photos will look beautiful whether it’s a rainy or sunny day.

3. Time spent travelling between venues

Travelling between locations can take time.  If you choose a venue where preparation, ceremony, and reception happen in the same place, you save a lot of time by not travelling.  This means less stress for you and your guests. This will also give your photographer more time to capture all these beautiful moments without travelling between locations.

Georgian stone house with barns and stables located near Sleaford. It has been recently converted into a modern wedding venue with a rural twist, a place for weddings for modern and stylish couples. Offering both outdoor and indoor ceremony spaces. This farm can welcome up to 110 daytime guests and 140 evening guests.

The Grange Leverton Wedding

A luxury boutique wedding venue in the heart of Lincolnshire, near Boston. The property offers weddings from Friday to Sunday with 80 daytime and up to 120 evening guests. For couples who want a timeless, classic English wedding, Lincolnshire offers beautiful venues with history and stunning architecture. Imagine long, private roads that drive you to the main building, walled gardens with greenery and flowers, and large, open indoor spaces. Here are some of my top country houses and estates.

Wootton Hall Wedding

If you are looking for a timeless, elegant and romantic Lincolnshire wedding venue, then this 18th-century Georgian estate offers everything you have dreamed of. This luxury house offers indoor weddings for up to 100 guests and outdoor weddings for up to 200 guests. From small romantic weddings to larger celebrations, this estate offers space for up to 110 day guests and a maximum of 180 evening guests. National Trust Gunby Estate

This is a National Trust country home built in 1700. This property offers stunning walled gardens and a Music Room for an intimate civil wedding ceremony for up to 50 guests. This venue will suit couples looking for only a ceremony place, with a champagne reception and photos in the gardens. Gunby Estate is located near Skegness and offers wedding ceremonies from 10 am to 3 pm on weekdays and Saturdays. Aubourn Hall Wedding in Lincoln
